2/2/2024 update from home

 

We are home!  It was long day.  The surgeon’s PA came by around 9:00am.  John wasn’t there so he said he would be back in 5 minutes.  He wasn’t.  He tried once when Colleen was in the bathroom.  The nursing staff indicated that we were to go home today.  But with no word from the PA, we were stuck.  Pain meds would wear off, and another dose given.  All the while expecting to leave at any time.  We needed discharge papers.

Finally, around 3:00, we asked the nurse about it and she texted both the surgeon and PA.  When there was no call back, John called the surgeon’s office asking what was happening.  Apparently, the PA misunderstood something that someone said and thought that we would be staying another night.  Once he had the correct info, he got right on it.  It was still about an hour before we could leave.  The pharmacy took over 30 minutes to fill our Rx.  Once that was handled, we were released and got home just before six.

Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day, with less pain.
