Home from Hawaii 10.22.2023
Hi all,
We are home safely.
We arrived on Monday. This is an
update since the last post.
On our last Thursday night on board in particular the ship
was rocking and rolling. The movement wasn’t
as bothersome as the noises, the creaks and groans. A floating haunted house.
The onboard entertainment was a bit spotty. There have been some bombs and a good
comedian and a hula show with young girls from Honolulu that was quite good. Trivia was fun with the partners we had.
Our waiter Oswin, one of the best ever, was very attentive
and had a sense of humor. One night when
ordering dessert, Colleen said “nothing”.
He brought John’s dessert and plate for Colleen. On the plate, spelled
out in chocolate was the word “nothing”!
The head waiter, now called the restaurant manager, was a chef. Every lunch Alessando made a different salad
and for dinner a different pasta, neither of which were on the menu.
The last week or so there was a noticeable increase in the
number of passengers coughing, sneezing and wearing masks. We hoped that the maskers were in protection
mode, but suspect that many were feeling ill but not willing to isolate. There were a few cases of COVID on
board. The ship puts a small table in
front of the cabin door of those infected.
They are to remain in their cabins and food is brought to them. Exactly like our COVID Hawaii cruise in
2020. But they don’t have to go to a
military base to quarantine!
It’s good to be home, but it was a fun trip.
Colleen & John
