At sea 10/12/2023

 

We are back at sea now for five days, until we arrive in Victoria on Sunday morning.  Then, home on Monday.

We visited Honolulu on Sunday, and it was mostly closed near the pier.  We just walked around and hid one of John’s Humpty Dumpty rocks.  We brought four and have been hiding one at each port.  We hope that whoever finds them posts a picture on our Facebook group.

Kauai was open and we walked to the very small town near the port, Nawiliwili. Twice as we forgot both postcards and the rock.  Hot and sweaty day.  The homes and condos above the water are just stunning and large.

We have a great team in the restaurant.  Our ‘restaurant manager’, previously called ‘head waiter’, is doing a great job of seeing that John gets no salt meals.  He is a chef and each lunch and dinner makes a salad or pasta near the entry to the room.  He is scheduled to publish a cookbook of his salads and pastas in 2025.  Colleen will be a buyer.  Our waiter is from India and is so good.  He is college educated and has an extensive knowledge of everything Princess.  Food, ships, history.  He plans to work on ships two or three more years and then move to London.  He is from the one state in India that can just change their passport to Great Britan.

Hawaiian cruise = Ukuleles.  There are classes and get togethers for the dozens of uke toting passengers.  Who knew that ukes were most often blue?  That is the dominant color here.  There are also hula lessons.  There will be a show in a couple of days, where the players and dancers will perform for us.

We are tired today, Thursday.  The clocks have changed the past two night, an hour forward each time.  We enjoyed the changes heading west as it gave an extra hour but now…not so much.  One more forward move and we will be home.  We will post again once home.
