Colleen fell on January 6th.

 

Colleen fell during the night on January 6^th.  Two trips to the ER found a fractured vertebra and a fractured pelvis.  These are extremely painful and required strong painkillers.  The original diagnoses were that neither would require surgery.  However, during a follow up with a spinal specialist we were told that the earlier diagnoses were wrong and that the vertebra needed surgery.  Apparently, only her back muscles were holding the spine together.  She will have surgery next week, most likely on Wednesday.  Two titanium rods will be placed, anchored to the vertebrae above and below the fractured one.  She was fitted for a brace today that will hopefully take of the pressure and pain away.
