Port Angeles (two days)

We have been in Port Angeles for two days now.  On Thursday, 9/25 we walked around the town, and found a Christmas ornament.  Of course we did!  A ceramic orca whale.  We did some window shopping after walking up a loooong hill to the Post Office to get postcard stamps.

Dinner last night was really odd.  For some reason, our meals took almost an hour and a half to get to us.  The whole meal took 2.5 hours.  At least we were with friends we made on the ship and have been having meals with daily.

Today, Friday the 26th, we took a morning ship's excursion to the Dungeness River Nature Center.  Interesting place, with lots of displays.  There was a festival going on and the place was rife with school children.  There was a very good, children's xylophone 'band' of the kids.

Then we went to the Sequim Museum.  Old fire trucks, a REO car, and a lot of history with info about a local hero who was one of the 'Boys in the Boat' from 1936 Olympics fame.

After that it was a meandering drive back to the ship with narration.  There were many homes with really nice gardens.  And two ten foot skeletons in front yards.  Who knew that was a thing.

After lunch we went back out and John had a famous 'Welly's New Zealand' ice cream cone.  Mixed berry.  Very good.  Children's size.  About twice the price of a gallon of ice cream from the grocer.  But...we are on vacation!

Here is the kids choir.  I tried to upload a video, but my enemy, Windows 11, resisted my efforts.

Back on the ship, we played trivia.  You know that is our favorite onboard activity.  We played with a man we met and creamed the field.  Well, the 'field' consisted on one other team of four.  We were at a one person disadvantage but still prevailed.  Prize; a cruise line advertising mug or an advertising ball cap.

Tomorrow, we were scheduled to be in Poulsbo/Bremerton. But, a tug boat sunk in the harbor about 10 days ago and it is preventing the ship from docking,  The recovery efforts are preventing...  So, we are going to spend an extra day in Seattle!  Many of the passengers are really excited about it.  There are tours to Chihuly Glass Museum and the Nordic Museum in Ballard as well as a shuttle to the Ballard Locks.

We are going to take some of our overpacking to the car and then Uber to the new waterfront.  We have not seen it since it was completed after the viaduct was torn down.
