May 13-14th Update

Seward Alaska is the cruise port for Anchorage; a 2.5 hours drive away.  We did not go to Anchorage!  No fast food in Seward, double checked with Mr. Google.  Just as a curiosity!

We walked into town from the ship and found a really cute Eskimo tree ornament, made locally.  Once again, a successful search.

The scenery there is amazing, snowcapped mountains, jagged and rising out of the water.  It was a clear day with sunshine. Made the mountains even more stunning.

A local, longshoreman, in shorts, told us it was summer.  That in five weeks the days would start getting shorter.

We mentioned a few posts ago about the dining room staff thinking we had a third roommate.  Layla.  We are not sure if she is here but her life jacket sure is. One day, the room steward did leave three towels. Hmmm.  So far, there haven’t been any unknown charges to our room!

Wednesday, we were in another new fjord for us, College Fjord.  Mini glaciers, lots of floating ice from the ship to shore.  A few larger icebergs.  And a large glacier.  But, it was raining outside, and we’ve been seeing glaciers. Sooooo, a few dashes onto the balcony for a quick photo and back inside. On non-sunny days, the whole ship is cold inside.  If it is a port day, a door to the outside is always open to go ashore.  Even on a non-port day like today, the passengers going out on a deck and back which causes the temp to drop and introduces breezes.  We all wear jackets indoors.

Thursday will be a sea day, no port.
