November 7th weirdnesses
Hello,
Cruise ship oddities,
confusions and irritants:
There is an
amazing array of walker designs and mobility scooters. It seems from casual observation that most of
the scooter drivers are renters, that they haven’t driven before. Watch out, as
you may be run over by a new driver.
One night at
dinner, we saw a family in matching red and black flannel-looking pajamas. And slippers.
Fifteen people at least. It was
a smart casual night, but still…..
On the day
that the country set clocks back one hour, the ship didn’t. Because we were heading east into a different
time zone. Then, a day or two later, the
ship’s time moved one hour forward. Again as we are heading east a bit. We are now south of Chicago, on Central time. The good news is that we will have to “fall back”
two hours. It is really important to
keep the same time as the ship keeps. If
the ship clock shows five o’clock and you show 4 o’clock….well if the ship is
scheduled to leave at five, you will be left behind to make your own way to the
ship at the next port. The ship must
keep to its schedule and the port charges for extra time. In Seattle it was $10,000 per hour. So yeah, adjust your watch!
At trivia, a
man in the back row, was on the phone talking aloud with his girlfriend while straw
slurping his iced drink. For the full 30
minutes of the trivia. If you are that
thirsty Bud, get another drink. He was trying
to convince her that if wanted, he could have many women on the ship, but he
was not. I don’t think she was
convinced. From our viewpoint, maybe
there weren’t that many women that would be attracted to him. Hmmm.
