11/3/24 Second and third day aboard the Majestic Princess
Hello from a few hours from Cabo San Lucas, our first port on this cruise.
We are in a handicapped accessible room for the first time. The big attraction when we booked it was the fact that the walker doesn't need to be collapsed to get through the front door. That is nice, but the room is sooooo much bigger. Wider, with lots more closets and drawers. So many drawers that we won't need to use about half of them. No tub to step over, so that is safer.
We have the same restaurant staff as our prior cruise, and they remembered our preferences. A happy crew who are a delight to interact with.
We did a trivia yesterday on day two. We had the exact same game as several weeks ago and still didn't get all of the answers correctly. Should have paid more attention.
This morning, Sunday, November 3rd, was 'fall back' day, and all of our electronics changed overnight. As they should. Except that the ship kept the old time, so many on board, including us, got up late. (Ships usually warn us when they are deviating from land time.) It does happen often, but they have always warned us in the past. Not his time. Resulting in missed breakfast! Our waiter did call as the restaurant was closing asking if we wanted food sent up.
Cabo is a tender port, meaning they have no dock large enough for the ship. So they drop life boats to carry the passengers to the small dock in town. Tendering started on time about 1 on Sunday afternoon. We will overnight here, so have decided not to fight the crowds Sunday afternoon, and will go in Monday morning when it's not so crowded nor hot.
Oops, around 2:30 on Sunday afternoon, the captain announced that the winds were high enough that the harbor master closed the port. Those wanting to go ashore can't and those on shore already can't come back until the harbor is open.
Later, the harbor master allowed those ashore to be brought back but did not open it for shoreward travel. The captain indicated that he expects tender service to resume as scheduled at 6am on Monday.
