Monday night
They came to get us for the echocardiogram about 2:30. I needed to go with him and his extra
batteries and second controller, just in case the batteries needed to be
changed out. It was a full echo, so took
about an hour. He was on battery power
yesterday for about 13 hours and at the end of the day, the batteries were
still at 80%, so very efficient.
After the echo, we moved the LVAD equipment to the shower
bag, sealed the PICC line and drive line, then straight to the shower. Then it was time to do the dressing change to
the drive line. There is still oozing,
so we will change it daily. Once it is
healed, it will be changed weekly. Then
his third drainage tube was removed.
The KING 5 piece will probably take at least two weeks to
produce and air. They said that they
will email us with the schedule, and we will pass that on. I believe we will be able to get to it online
also. We'll let you know when we know
more. They said The Seattle Times will
probably contact us after we go home.
The only pain John has had in the past week are skin issues
when they remove tape from his skin. He
has many skin tears, where the skin comes off with the adhesive. We have started using an adhesive remover and
removing the tape very slowly. Jen
ordered us a box of these, so I can use them when we are home.
He did the 18 laps for 1 mile today. That was pushing it with all the other things
we did. His fitBit says 3231 steps,
pretty impressive. We didn't get to the
cane with PT or our excursion, maybe tomorrow.
Good Night
Colleen
