Thursday
Last night John got one of his three drainage tubes
removed. They also took out his arterial
line out of his left wrist. Now he can
wear his fitBit on his left arm. His
left arm is still swollen. He is also
still retaining fluids in his legs and feet, so diuretics are being used
heavily today.
Today has been a day of training. First Occupational Therapy came in and taught
him how to bathe himself without water, which he will do until he is cleared to
shower. And how to get dressed with lots of wires and tubes attached. Now he is working with the LVAD coordinator
to get the same training that Jen, Mick and I got earlier this week. We also have a 350 page handbook which we
both need to study. Not much spare time,
we are expecting to see Physical Therapy this afternoon. We need to be cleared by them before we can
go for walks together without a nurse or PT.
We would like to walk more than we have been, so look forward to being
cleared.
John's appetite is coming back, and he is eating better
every day.

Why is his left arm swollen? Did they rule out blood clot?
Is there an APP for the 350 page handbook....;-)
