Friday morning
John had a rough night last night. He ran a fever of about 101, his blood
pressure went down, and his oxygen saturation is about 85%. They did a chest
x-ray, and drew blood for blood cultures during the night, so not much time to
sleep. They want him up in the chair today so he can breathe better. He has
fluid in his lungs and feet, so they will increase the lasix dosage. If that doesn't get the fluid off, they will
put him on a 24-48 hour IV drip. It has
been nice the last few days not having to deal with the diuretic at night. He doesn't have the energy today that he had
yesterday. It is like a roller coaster. He did a sponge bath this morning. Putting
his pajama top back on was quite the challenge.
The VAD has three wires that need to be in the right place, then the
heart monitor wires need to be on the inside.
We got it on the third try. He is napping now. He was so busy yesterday that he didn't have
time to nap. I think lack of sleep has
sent him backwards a bit.
