11.02.2017 update from home
We are home. We had a
very nice trip and flights. We did have a diversion at the end of the
trip. We were scheduled to visit Grand
Cayman, but tropical storm Phillipe came up.
Grand Cayman is a tender port and the waves were too high for the life
boats (tenders) to transport us to the dock.
The captain showed us video on the television sets and we could see why
that port was canceled. Princess tried to find us a substitute port but none
were available. We had to go around the west end of Cuba to avoid the storm. Our normal route would have taken us past the
east end of Cuba.
In Houston at the
start of our second leg home, the pilot announced that there was a family
emergency with a passenger. He turned
the plane around and went back to the gate to let the affected woman off the
plane. It made us ten minutes late to
land in Seattle, but one passenger kicked up a big fuss, He tried to demand that the doors be shut and
we take off right now.
We're home for a while.
Thinking of making a trip to Las Vegas mid winter. Neither of us has been there before.
