Gowns, gloves and masks Tuesday 4/12/16
Good Morning,
This is going to be real quick, but just wanted to update
you on Johns progress. He got up to his
ICU room about 2:15 this morning and has been resting comfortably. Shortly after I got here, just before 7 today,
they turned off his propothal so he is starting to come to. His coloring is really good, much pinker than
he has been in years. Still has a
breathing tube, so he can't talk, and is restrained so he won't try to pull any
tubes.
Dr Smith came to talk to us about 12:30 this morning. He is pleased with the results of the
surgery, although it took longer than anticipated. Most of the extra time was due to the removal
of all his extra hardware: LVAD, ICD, mitral valve and assorted wires. There was quite a bit of scar tissue due to
his previous heart surgeries. He is
pleased with how the new heart is working.
I'll post more later, but now I need to attend to the
patient!
Colleen
