03.26.2020 test results

Hello all,  

We finally were able to get our test results back.  It wasn’t easy.  We had been told that we would only be notified if we had a positive result.  That left us a bit nervous, what if our test had somehow fallen through the cracks?  The testing labs are overwhelmed, so we worried.  And the transplant team was really concerned and wanted to see results. 

We could not find anyplace online to access the results so we asked for another favor from the Public Health Director for infectious diseases in Washington State.  He fought to get us out of the Marine base and we are thankful for him.

He asked his associate from Health and Human Services to try to find the results.  Normally, results of medical tests are only given to the doctor who ordered the test.  We didn’t have a clue who actually ordered the test.  John spoke to a doctor at the base, but the doc was in full hazmat attire and no name tags.

However, Michelle, the associate from HHS, was able to get us the results in a day!  We both tested negative.  She also told us that a few people that were on the same plane from San Diego to Seattle tested positive.  We all wore masks, except for when we were eating.  We continue to quarantine ourselves for 14 days after we got home. 

There were a lot of people working for us.  The director, Michelle, Patty Murray’s people.  The one who really got the ball rolling, who got us pointed in the right direction, was our nephew, Chris.  Thanks again, Chris.
