03.23.2020 Update from home
Hello from home,
We are pretty well settled in at home now. We are still under quarantine, but truth be
known, we are pretty used to it. We were
both tested at the base, but haven’t heard anything. We were told that we would only be contacted if
our test was positive. We’d like to have
a result sent to us. For peace of mind. What if we fell through the cracks? It is the government and therefore big. Lots of tests going back and forth. Ours went to a lab in North Carolina for
testing. The local lab was overwhelmed.
We walk around the neighborhood for exercise instead of in
the ship cabin or around the Marine Base compound. It’s much nicer, it feels freer. No soldiers on the other side of the
fencing.
A friend went to store for us and bought fresh things, veggies
and fruit and milk. Laundry and ironing
are all caught up, and the gardens are in as good a shape as can be at this
time of year. It has been sunny since we
got back but it is predicted to be rainy for the next week plus.
We would like to say thanks to everyone that supported us
during this last cruise. And it may well
be our last cruise. We would not want to
have something like this happen overseas.
Once is enough. Actually, once is
too many.
Writing the blog was therapeutic for us, as a way to stay in
touch and distract our minds at the same time.
We tried to keep it light-hearted while giving a bit of a view into our
lives.
Colleen and John
