04.03.2018 Update at sea
This is our fifth day on board the Emerald Princess. We do the usual, play trivia twice a day and
walk the ship. The trivia has really
been difficult this time and there are some really strong teams. One team has had a perfect record twice. John has gone to the gym every day, usually
early in the morning, and Co gets her 10,000 steps a day.
The Naturalist on board is a retired U S Park Ranger who
worked in the Hawaii National Park system for over twenty years. She has given very interesting talks on
whales, volcanoes, and one on how the Hawaiian Islands are developing. We also have a Hawaiian couple who have given
talks on each of the four islands we will be visiting. They have also given a talk on the Hawaiian
language, as well as classes on Hula and lei making.
On board they have two new Coke cans. New to us at least. One is from Chile and says “Sabor Original”. Is has sugar not a chemical. The other new can is from South Africa and
says ‘For airline and maritime consumption only’. It also has sugar. The real deal. We have not seen either can in the past. The Chile can holds more liquid.
The evening entertainment has been good. We have seen the comedian twice, a magician,
and a signer who we had seen a couple of years ago during a Princess Cruises “Entertainer
of the Year” competition. She does a
wonderful tribute to Whitney Houston, and is very good. Last night we went to watch Celebrity Liars
Club which was hilarious. Tonight was a Production Show with the Magician.
It has been a relaxing four days at sea, but we are looking
forward to get on to the islands for the next four days. Tomorrow is Hilo, on the Big Island of
Hawaii.
