10.29.2016 Cruise update
We are home. We
actually got home Wednesday afternoon.
We were scheduled to be on a flight leaving LAX at 2:45 pm, but got on an
earlier flight leaving at 12:25 pm. So
we got to Seattle at 2:30 and home by 4:30.
On the airplane there was a man across the aisle that had quite a
cold. It was a pretty empty flight so we
were able to get moved. As of today, we
are both feeling well, so I think we dodged those germs!
There isn't much to report as the day between San Francisco
and LA was an 'at sea' day. We played
trivia, went to the final art auction, went to the fitness center, and listened to a great talk by the
captain. He covered a lot of area,
explaining how the ship worked. Power
plants, GPS, fresh water production, steering, fuel usage, and that bulbous nose
that big ships now have. It actually
makes the ship faster and saves fuel.
Legend has it that the young son of an engineer asked his dad how porpoises
went through the water so easily and why ships were not shaped the same. We also spent some time saying thank you and
good bye to those who took such good care of us that week as well as writing recognitions
for them.
The driver of the bus from the cruise terminal to LAX was a
maniac when it came to changing lanes. I
think he thought he was driving a Ferrari.
And the bus had weak springs and would sway radically during his maneuvers.
On the medical side, John had a blood test taken Thursday
for the CMV virus. The number was lower
still but not yet to zero. The numbers
have been 150,000, 24,000, 6,500, 700 and now 210. Going in the right direction. We continue the every 12 hour infusions, with
weekly Friday dressing changes.
Yesterday was 200 days since transplant. Thanks for tracking it, Jen.
