Where's my camera?

Hi again,

We had a sunny morning, so took the blue sky opportunity to go on the London Eye, a large ferris wheel over 400’ high. The fourth highest structure in London. Clouds started in partway through our 30 minute ‘flight’, so the timing was good.
Our lost luggage was delivered before noon, so Co made soup and finally had a comfortable pair of shoes. We walked over 8 miles yesterday, and her feet were hurting. While the soup was cooking, we walked to the supermarket. The concierge said it was a 10 minute walk. After about 10 minutes we asked a man on bike and he said about 10 minutes that-a-way. We got there in about seven. So, is there a metric minute, or are minutes on a sliding scale in London?

After lunch, we took the train to Windsor Castle and got there in time to see some of it. We missed the doll house tour, which supposedly is great. We went through St George’s chapel, an impressive structure, especially since it is on a private residence. Well, a private residence that covers 12 acres. Not a summer cottage. The chapel was over three stories high inside with a large number of stained glass windows and ornate columns. The building was made of marble and nicely carved. It holds lots of graves, Queen Mary, Robert Burns, graves in the floors, walls and above ground crypts. All of this and folding chairs instead of pews.

To get into the building, they use airport style scanners for security reasons. John doesn’t go through those because of his pacemaker/defibrillator and always gets a hand search. Today, there were two women on duty and the older one asked the younger one to do it. She questioned it, but the older one said that was what they did. We got the impression that the searcher was a new hire. John spread his arms and she patted them and his chest and then reached around a patted his behind. Colleen immediately said ‘Where is my camera?’ which embarrassed her. John then asked, ‘was it good for you, too?' That really did it. The older woman was in stitches.

We did have hot showers tonight, but there was no hot water in the kitchen for dishes, so they were washed in the bathroom.

Tomorrow we will take the train to see Terry & Jan, friends from a cruise in 2005. They live near Portsmouth, so we will get to see a new area.

Colleen & John
