Tropical rains are incredible. We were out on a tour with a local guide and the skies opened. Seattle is famous for its rain, but this was a different type of rain. When we thought it couldn’t come down any faster, it did. The torrents running down the hill were brown and running at a high speed. We had just driven past a road repair crew fixing a washed out road and worried that our road might collapse. We were protected in an air conditioned van. Most of the tour vans are open air, having seats and a roof installed in a Chevrolet or Ford pickup truck. Those folks got soaked, but it is so hot here that it probably felt good!

The show tonight was a comedian named Carl Strong and he was hilarious. He got the first standing ovation we have seen on this cruise. Ovations don’t happen often on ships. Most of his material concerned being on a cruise ship, being old and raising kids. Everyone in the theater related.

Tomorrow we will be in Puerto Rico and we are going to take ourselves on a self guided tour. We found directions on the internet and they sounded fun, so we are going to go for it. We’ll let you know how it works out.
