Tuesday evening surgery

Hello all,

At 6:10 tonight we were told that it looked like the staph culture was growing, so a decision was made to do the surgery. Things started moving very fast at that time. He was immediately transferred to pre-op where we met with the anaesthesiologist and signed the papers. The anesthesia was begun and he was taken into the operating area for prep at 7. At 7:45 the anaesthesiologist came to find me in the waiting room and indicated things went real well. The surgeon came in at 8 indicating that things went well and John was doing fine. He will culture the tissue and liquid that was removed. The incision is about one inch and it is not closed, so I will learn wound care over the next couple of days. They need it to be open and regularly packed so it can heal from the inside. He had a new IV port installed this afternoon, one that he will go home with, so we can do the IV drips at home. I am now waiting for him to return to his room from recovery.

We'll post later when I see him.

Colleen
