03.06.2020 First update
Hello evaryone,
The captain just came on and gave us…nothing new. Still waiting for test results. Once the results are back, the California
Health Dept in conjunction with the CDC, will let the captain know further
plans. We are also waiting for a plan to
allow passengers out to get fresh air and exercise. It is possible that will only apply to those
in inside cabins. We just don’t know.
We are feeling bad for some other passengers. Those in inside cabins that cannot see out,
and those cabins are tiny. Smokers must
be going through serious withdrawals unless they get outings. Families, kids must be horribly bored. But the ship did add over 100 movies to On
Demand. The live TV channels are
limited. We have BBC, CNBC, Fox news,
MSNBC and Sport 24. Our best news about
the ship actually comes from BBC. The
ship is sending “entertainment kits” to each room. We have not received one yet, but they have
puzzles, sudoku, etc.
There is a seeing eye dog on board, hope there is a good
supply of dog food. There are contract
workers installing glass windbreaks near automatic doors near the buffet and
such. There are others updating the ship
to what is called Medallion. Part of
Medallion is the newer, faster internet. On the next cruise it is to be fully
operational. Your medallion will unlock
your door for you, will identify you when ordering something rather than, in
the past, requiring the showing your cruise card.
Everyone got the same breakfast this morning. Scrambled eggs, bacon, pancakes, fruit, cereal
and milk, orange juice and rolls. We
were given menus to select lunch and dinner. The options are much more limited than when we
could go to the different dining venues.
We opted for turkey fajitas for lunch for John and a pasta dish for Co. We both ordered beef stew for dinner.
Getting enough exercise is problematic. We try to get 10,000 Fitbit steps daily. It’s hard in the cabin. It is 14 paces from the door to the balcony
door. We walk in place at times and Co
does her balancing routine. Even with
the size of our cabin, it still has a lot of furniture, and not a lot of
walking space.
More as we learn.
Colleen and John
