Thursday afternoon

My request of an hour of not being interrupted apparently was asking too much.  He did get 45 minutes of good hard sleep though.  Then another team came in.  That doctor thought it was too soon to repeat the swallow study, darn, I know he is swallowing better than yesterday at this time.  There are some of his Colitis medications that are not available in liquid form, nor should they be crushed, so he isn't getting them.  I was pleased when the speech therapist came in and cleared him to drink water, have ice chips and pureed foods.  His mouth and throat have been so dry, the ice and water have been welcome.  He is sleeping now, not in pain.  We're trying to get to a point that the pain meds work, but don't cause him to be so drowsy.  We need to do at least one more move to the chair today.
