At Sea & Peurto Vallarta

As usual on ‘at sea’ days, we have been playing trivia.  No success however.  We’ve gone to a few lectures about ancient civilizations and spent some time in the casino at penny slot machines.  Our waiter is competent, but dull.  Our assistant waiter, Tanya, is as lively and fun as a person can be.  The head waiter is also competent and does a good job with the low sodium diet requests from John.

We docked in Puerto Vallarta (PV) around 10am on Saturday and met our tour group in the theater a bit later for our excursion.  We got onto a tour bus that took us to the town square and cathedral, the church of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  The guide warned us that we should keep an eye on our watches and meet at the appointed times.  John always takes a picture of the license plate of vehicles we get into in case there is a difficulty or lost item.  The driver switched busses between the first and second stops, a first.  Someone did not arrive at the meeting place on time, as good to his word, the guide left him or her!  Also a first.  One wonders if that person got onto the original bus.  Then it was on to a tile factory where we expected to be able to watch the artisans make, color and bake the tiles.  But, it was Holy Saturday and only the store was open selling the tiles.    Then it was off to a tequila distillery and lunch.  It was a late lunch, but tacos enjoyed by all.  We didn’t have much of an appetite for dinner a couple of hours later.
They have a stunningly beautiful tree here that they call Primavera, or Spring.  See the photo.
We will be in Cabo San Lucas on Sunday around noon.  There is a Catholic priest on board, so we will be able to go to Mass on Easter.  Our next blog entry will likely be on Monday, the second day we will be in Cabo.
