St Thomas, first port of five in a row

Up at 7am with an alarm, ick! Alarms and vacations shouldn’t coexist! On the dock at 8:10 for a tour, described as Historic Homes and Pirate Hideaways, written up as being a 4 hour tour. We got on the jitney, an open sided small bus, and went to two lookouts and drove past what was called a small castle. Then we were dropped off after one hour at a turret shaped watch tower that was called “Blackbeard’s Castle”. No more tour, no driver, we were left to walk down the hill to the town, going through a rum factory and a couple of old homes, plus an amber museum. We were done in less than two hours. A bit of a joke for $39.00 each. Probably the most disappointing tour ever. We passed on the boat taxi ride back to the ship and walked back, so that we could stop at a hardware store and a grocery store. That took two hours, so maybe the four hour excursion was really four hours!

Antigua is tomorrrow's destination.  We have ports the next four days, so stay tuned.
