02.27.2020 from Oahu
Honolulu today! It
rained intermittently, mostly in the morning.
So, we decided to go out in the afternoon. It looked good as we left the ship, then immediately
started in again. John went back in and
up to the cabin to get windbreakers. The
rains stopped shortly after. Figures,
right?
Our original plan was to do a hop-on hop-off bus tour, but
decided to just walk to the beach and back.
We didn’t find a beach but walked to a park. The park was closed but we went in
anyway. Up hills, down hills, around
hills. On the way we had noticed a few
streets that had temporary no parking signs.
As we got back from the park, a woman came up to us and asked us to avoid
one side of the street. They were
filming an episode for HAWAII 5-O. We
saw two takes. THREE, TWO, ONE, ACTION! We filmed the second take but from quite a
distance. It was fun. The woman rejected John’s request to be
extras.
We are going to try to post a video of the HAWAII 5-O
filming. If it posts, another post will
follow with an explanation of the action.
The entertainment tonight was provided by a local hula school.
The presentation was called the Halau Hula Olana Show. They had very young girls and more mature
girls doing interpretive Hawaiian dances.
The dancers were very good and had beautiful, colorful costumes. They start learning hula and training at 3.5
years old. It was a great show.
Maui is tomorrow’s port.
