Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta a day later.
We tried to post this blog entry last night but the satellites were not
cooperating.

Today we visited our last port of call on this trip, Puerto
Vallarta. Next is three days at sea and
then San Francisco and on to home.
The ship arrived in port at 11am and we left the ship
shortly after. Our intention was to walk
to town, but once ashore, we found it was four miles, not the three we had been
told. Since the temps were in the 80s, we
took a city bus. The term 'bus' is
loosely used here. They are really ugly,
beat up old things whose doors pop open frequently. We think that they might be privatized, not
municipal. They don't run on any
discernible schedule, but often there are several going on the same route one right
after another. They look like armored
cars on steroids, stout and high. They
look as if they could ram their way through mountains, making their own
tunnels. But, they are cheap, less than
a dollar each way.
Once in town, we just wandered around for a couple of hours,
had a beer, watched the guys that twirl around, the Papantia Flyers , as they
descent from a tall tower on the beach.
We are going to try to attach a video.
A little housekeeping here.
The seas have been calm throughout the cruise, no rolling at all. Very nice.
We also found our favorite server of all our trips. He was on the same ship in 2012 when we went
around Australia and New Zealand. He
remembered our names and what we liked to order. It is nice to see Felix again.
All of the ports have had a large police/military presence.
Lots of help available when we needed traffic stopped to cross
intersections. Some local police ride
around on Segway machines. The military
guys have automatic weapons. Burger King
delivers via motorcycles here.
