A simple sneeze caused what?

Yesterday, 7/22/09, a simple sneeze caused a simple bloody nose. Which simply wouldn't quit for two and a half hours. Co finally got John to follow orders and go the ER. We were taken back quite quickly and in another two hours, the simple bloody nose was stopped.

The doctor was a treat, very calm and reassuring. She sprayed a numbing agent into the nostril and it went down into the throat and caused a temporary paralysis of the swallow function. The feeling was same as when the congestive heart failure causes an inability to breathe laying down. Simple panic. Well, total panic. She kept saying she would wait as long as it took to go away and kept reassuring us that it would pass, that John was actually breathing and not in danger. And, it was true. Co could see John's chest rising and falling and he knew he was breathing, but he was still panicky. The doctor then cauterized the 'ulcer' in the nose and sent us on our way with instructions to see an Eye, Nose and Throat doctor. That appointment is set for August 6th.
